Wagner leads after first day of APPT Macau

Andre Wagner took the chip lead at the end of the first day of the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Macau Main Event yesterday.
The German was among 125 players who took part in day 1a, PokerNews reports, and took over the lead on the final hand of the day.
He faced competition from big names including John Juanda, Celina Lin, Barry Greenstein and Wooka Kim, as well as 2007 APPT Grand Final champion Grant Levy.
Barry Greenstein was one of the early casualties and was followed by Jonny Vincent, Liz Lieu and Eric Assadourian.
At the end of the first day 46 players remained, including Mike "Timex" McDonald and Guray Turkay.
Wagner's preliminary chip count for day 1a was 109,700, with Kofi Farkye on 78,700 and Daisy "Chain" Wain on 70,100.
Held at the Grand Waldo Hotel and Casino, the competition runs to September 6th and has a guaranteed prize pool of HKD $10,000,000 (£720,123).
